Mt. Hood Counseling Service was founded in 1980 by Murl Silvey, Psy. D., clinical psychologist, to provide a guide and help in the Mt. Hood community for a better way of life. This mission has continued in tradition through four different locations in Sandy, Oregon and with the help of other counselors over time. Dr. Silvey’s wife, Bev Silvey, MA, National Certified Counselor, joined the counseling staff full time in 1990. She has retired from the Mt. Hood Counseling staff but continues to serve in the community.

Dr. Silvey is semi-retired and works part-time. In 2007, James L. Born, Psy. D., clinical psychologist, joined Mt. Hood Counseling Service and became its owner in 2012. Dr. Born’s wife, Linda Born, RN, has retired from full time hospital nursing care to join her husband coordinating the Mt. Hood Counseling Service office.
